CrumbScale worshop - by example

GENERAL INFO AND LEARNING POINTS

The workshop can scale up for a group of 40(max) participants divided in 5(max) teams of 8 people. In this collaborative and hands on workshop, the participants will learn the following:

  • Using CrumbScale to estimate a backlog effort
  • Sprint planning using CrumbScale
  • Estimating effort of new stories using the CrumbScale estimation tool
  • Planning and achieving predictability with CrumbScale

SETUP

  • The room will be divided in sub groups of 5 to 8 people.
  • Each group will be distributed with an envelope containing the necessary material for the workshop. (Set of cards with backlog items and markers)

THE SESSION WILL RUN AS FOLLOW

  • Intro
  • The promise and downfalls of [traditional] point estimation methods
  • The CrumbScale point distribution method
  • Activity #1 : Each sub group will estimate the effort for their backlog using CrumbScale
  • Using the CrumbScale estimation tool
  • Activity #2 : Each sub group will estimate three new items using their CrumbScale tool
  • Rapid project planning
  • Running a CrumbScale Sprint planning
  • Activity #3 : Each sub group will have a sprint planning session and find their initial velocity
  • Adjusting the plan, based on the velocity
  • Q&A
